| Dimension | Community class | Private small-group class |
|---|---|---|
| Class size & teaching | Larger groups; learn collectively with the class, mainly following along | Small groups; hands-on individual adjustments by the instructor with targeted correction of movements |
| Instructors | Standard teaching of the community program | Taught by senior champion-certified instructors from Wudang, Shaolin and other traditions, with Wendy Jiang — a senior internationally licensed Chen-style Tai Chi instructor (Chinese official 7th Duan) — teaching in person |
| Goals | General fitness, stress relief, getting started and building a habit | Refining your form, improving power generation, fast progress, or preparing for performances and competitions |
A common path: build your foundations and habits in the community class, then move to the private small-group class where the instructor corrects each movement one by one — affordable and reliable. If you have specific physical needs or clear goals, you can also start in the small-group class from the beginning.

Chen-style Tai Chi helps regulate qi and blood, relax the neck, shoulders and back, improve sleep, relieve mental stress, improve balance and strengthen the core — ideal as a long-term health practice. Chen style is the original style from which Tai Chi developed, known for its silk-reeling energy (chansi jin) and alternating fast and slow movements, offering both health benefits and a clear martial arts system. The benefits of Tai Chi come with long-term practice: in the first few weeks you may mainly just feel relaxed, but after two to three months the improvements in sleep, posture and energy become more and more noticeable.
