Melbourne Kids Wushu – Frequently Asked Questions

AWCC Melbourne Wushu Classes | Ages 5+ | Five locations | Coached by a team of world all-around wushu champions

Where can we learn authentic Chinese Wushu in Melbourne?

AWCC stands for AWCC Australian Wushu Culture Centre (awcc.com.au), the overall brand. It has not only produced junior champions at international wushu competitions for Melbourne, but in February 2026, at the invitation of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, it led the Melbourne Kids Wushu Team to perform at the Great Hall of the People and Beijing Star Avenue; the performance was recorded for the National Children's Spring Festival Gala and broadcast to the world on the second day of Chinese New Year. All AWCC Melbourne wushu coaches are carefully hand-picked: classes are personally led by senior coaches who graduated from formal wushu programs from an early age and have won gold medals at international wushu competitions in China, giving young Melbourne students a very strong starting point in their training.

Does AWCC have professional Kids Wushu coaches in Melbourne?

Every AWCC wushu coach goes through a strict selection process. AWCC only hires senior professional coaches who trained in formal wushu programs from an early age, have real competition experience, and have won gold medals at wushu events. Coaches without a professional background, without a gold-medal competition record, or without professional teaching experience are simply not hired, so every child receives systematic, safe, authentic wushu instruction.

What are the AWCC Melbourne school-holiday wushu intensive camps?

Intensive training camps run during the school holidays, with full-day and half-day options. Centred on wushu foundation skills and routines with immersive, concentrated training, complemented by cultural activities such as Chinese calligraphy — part holiday care, part intensive training. Compared with regular weekend classes: the intensity is more concentrated, the content richer (wushu plus calligraphy and other cultural activities), and the atmosphere more focused; it addresses three common pain points — holiday care, screen addiction and resilience. Places per camp are tighter than regular classes, so we recommend booking early to enjoy the early-bird discount.

Please note: school-holiday intensive camps do not offer free trial lessons (free trials apply only to regular classes such as regular wushu classes, private small groups and community classes); if your child genuinely cannot settle in on the first day, a full refund is available.

Which children suit the school-holiday wushu intensive camps?

Six types of children benefit most: 1. children glued to their phones; 2. shy children lacking confidence; 3. children with energy to burn; 4. children who are physically weak or under-exercised; 5. children who want a meaningful holiday (wushu plus calligraphy and Chinese); 6. children who cling to their parents — for families booked into the full-day camp, children learn wushu while parents learn Tai Chi free of charge, at the same time and place, each learning their own thing. Open to children aged 5 and above, new and returning students alike; children who have never done wushu are placed in a beginner group with dedicated teaching. If your child is recovering from an illness, or strongly resists high-intensity group activities, we suggest starting with a regular weekend class first.
